JOB SUMMARY

Our client is  looking for an experienced Chief financial officer (CFO) to plan it’s financial strategy, drive effective management of all financial resources using a risk-based approach, and provide financial advice and support to help senior executives make key decisions. As the CFO, you will be responsible for the efforts, results, and success of the finance department. The candidate will regularly engage with our partners CFO and Group Finance team, as well as other senior leadership stakeholders at the BU and Group levels. 
The ideal candidate must be an astute finance professional with a broad knowledge of accounting, finance and business principles and also a strategic thinker with strong leadership capability who will understand our business context and provide guidance on decision-making that will guide the company towards profitability and long-term success.
This role is based in Lagos, Nigeria. The role has a dual-reporting line into the Managing Director of our client’s company and the Partners CFO.


JOB DESCRIPTION

In line with Group Finance strategy, policy, and process: 

  • Oversee, review, and adhere to the budgets for each business department.
  •  Assist in company-wide budgetary planning.
  •  Ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line in statutory regulations and legislation.
  •  Analyze the financial climate and market trends to assist senior executives in creating strategic plans for the future.
  •  Interpret complex financial information and provide updates and information as needed.
  •  Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions.
  •  Supervise the finance team and other employees, where applicable, in the facilitation of
    day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc.
  •  Prepare official reports on a monthly and annual basis for relevant stakeholders.
  •  Seek out methods and practices to minimize financial risk.
  •  Contract auditing services to ensure financial monitoring is up-to-date.
  •  Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions and accountants.
  •  Update and implement financial policies and procedures.
  •  Maintain a policy manual for the finance department.
  •  Work with human resources employees to secure candidates who will be an asset to the finance department.
  •  Establish and implement a training program for new finance employees.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Fluency in English (written and verbal


QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • 15 years relevant experience as CFO, finance officer or relevant role with a background  in fintech or mobile money considered an advantage.

  •  Detailed knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.

  •  Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite and financial management software (e.g. Xero).

ERP implementation experience is an advantage.
  •  Certification as a Chartered Accountant, highly advantageous.

  •  BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus. 


SALARY: N18 million to N25 million per year, in addition to other benefits
