Our client is a start-up company in the Agro space that is working on rolling out an E-commerce platform to digitalize and virtualize the Farmer-Aggregrator/Industrial buyer space.  Angel round of funding for this startup is imminent.

Company is currently in the first phase and will be proceeding down the value chain all the way to the consumers in subsequent phases. 

An MBA intern or recent business school graduate is needed to work directly with the Executive incubating the business and will also work in a team that includes other business leaders, analysts and graphic specialists. He/she will be required to do research, analysis, modeling, synthesis and presentation and deliver the next business model and pitch documents for the next round of financing.

The ideal candidate should be super smart, creative, hardworking and versed in the use of  financial models and will be needed to support the team in the run up to Financing. 

Skills required: Research, Analysis, Presentation, Modeling, Synthesis, and Report/documentation  

Duration: 3 months (extendable)

Location: Role could be virtual but being present in Lagos is preferred

Education & Experience: MBA student or graduate with experience in Organization Development, Fintech, & Financial Modeling

Key deliverables at the end of the internship: business model & pitch documents for the next round of financing. 

Salary: N250,000/Month

Infrastructure Advisory is a specialty practice within EY's Strategy and Transactions service line.  The team advises through the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects across Canada and globally and is recognized in the market as a leading advisor, recognized through local and international awards for innovation.

Your key responsibilities

 

We are looking for an experienced candidate to join as a Vice President in the Infrastructure Advisory team in Ontario. This position is anticipated to be based in Toronto and will fill an integral role that involves working closely with other members of the rapidly growing national Infrastructure Advisory team to lead and deliver a variety of engagements related to the planning, development, delivery and operations of major infrastructure projects.

 

Areas of responsibility

  • Project manage EY teams advising both governments and private sector clients on major infrastructure projects.
  • Project manage complex assignments including a lead role in client relationship management.
  • Provide direction and oversight on research information to be used in financial modeling, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications.
  • Provide direction and oversight on procurement activities (e.g. requests for proposals).
  • Review and provide quality assurance on complex financial models within broadly defined guidelines.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of quality documents for, and presentations to, clients and prospects. 
  • Manage and execute on multiple assignments with an exceptional standard of performance
  • Manage staff teams of 3-5 professionals and assume developmental responsibility for junior staff. 
  • Contribute in shaping EY's "go-to-market" client development strategy in Infrastructure Advisory.
  • Collaborate with other team members in identifying and exploring potential new business opportunities; contribute to develop and maintain a healthy funnel of opportunities; contribute to expand and grow the practice through proactive introductions of the firm's capabilities to target clients and by expanding service to existing clients.
  • Contribute to increase the practice's visibility in the marketplace by assuring its presence in key industry events, literature and discussions, in Ontario and across Canada.
  • Contribute to attract, develop and motivate strong talent and engaging them towards attaining clearly defined objectives.
  • Espouse and model the firm's professional values by promoting collaboration and innovation; fostering creativity; and engendering an ethical approach to conducting business.
 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • 8 to 10+ years' experience in providing value added business advisory services for major infrastructure projects over their lifecycle (e.g. in relation to business cases, project financing and funding, procurement, economics, strategy, due diligence, contract management, asset management)
  • 4+ years working in a leadership capacity within the infrastructure and project development space
  • Superior knowledge of financial modeling, including applying financial accounting principles and undertaking quantitative risk assessment with Monte Carlo simulations
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Understanding of key business drivers, business strategy and public policy
  • A solid understanding of the end-to-end project management life cycle for major infrastructure projects: Strategy, Planning, Procurement, Delivery and Operations
  • Strong project management skills and ability to organize work as the leader of multidisciplinary teams of professional advisors
  • Deep knowledge of the infrastructure market in at least two of the following sectors: healthcare, roads and bridges, public transit, ports, airports, power and utilities, water and wastewater, urban development, higher education
  • Strong business development skills, and ability to develop winning proposals to clients within limited timelines
  • Demonstrate a hands-on, team oriented, collaborative, respectful, positive, flexible, leadership by example, "roll your sleeves up" style and a strong work ethic
  • Capacity to provide quality deliverables with an attention to details
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian debt financing and capital markets and/or of global infrastructure and project financing markets; working knowledge of the Canadian and International Finance and Accounting concepts and principles - CPA not required
  • Undergraduate degree necessary (business or engineering), Master's degree (e.g. MBA, MSc Economics or MSc Finance) or related designation (e.g. CFA/CBV) an asset
  • Self-motivated, proactive, entrepreneurial and with an ability to work independently and communicate directly with clients and prospects when necessary, while being collaborative enough to bring a strong contribution as a key member of the National team
  • MBA/Master’s degree/CFA/CBV or related designation (e.g. CFA/CBV) would be an asset

Your key responsibilities


Be accountable for both the sale and delivery of third-party assurance engagements over Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) information in both voluntary and regulated disclosure such as annual sustainability reports and provincially regulated greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting.  Working in a team environment, lead projects to assist clients in their efforts to accurately and completely disclose quantitative and qualitative ESG performance information.  Monitor the engagement team's progress against the plan and alter it when needed.


Stay current on and be accountable for team knowledge of the various ESG disclosure standards and frameworks against which assurance is conducted, for example the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the GHG Protocol, the World Gold Council Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs), Mining Association of Canada Toward Sustainable Mining (TSM), regulatory GHG reporting standards and many others. Be comfortable serving clients across industries including financial services, mining, real estate and many others.


Be an internal subject matter resource on non-financial assurance standards (eg, ISAE 3000, CSAE 3410).


Play a lead role in driving our national sustainability assurance quality efforts, including working with our internal assurance quality teams to ensure sustainability assurance considerations are appropriately addressed; liaising with EY teams providing sustainability assurance globally to support the ongoing enhancement of our global Sustainability Assurance Methodology (SAM); and playing a lead role in designing/delivering training on sustainability assurance to our national team.  


Manage client relationships and contribute significantly to business development and account management leadership. Represent the practice in management forums and enable the rapid, profitable growth of our business. Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with other EY client service teams.
Identify/communicate trends, developments, and key performance drivers relevant to your clients and potential clients. Demonstrate a deep understanding of client industry and marketplace.

  • An interest and ability to establish a personal brand and network amongst the Canadian ESG disclosure community
  • Public speaking experience/capability 
  • Excellent project management and team leadership skills
  • Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills and PowerPoint skills
