MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Must be able to demonstrate a broad range of coaching and
technical expertise having coached squash players at a professional level. Must have
coached professional squash players either at International or State level.
PREFERED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 7 years and above
SALARY: N200,000- N250,000 Gross Monthly Salary
JOB SUMMARY:
The Squash (Technical) Coach and Trainer will be an individual that is able to develop new and innovative squash training programs that help to turn JHSF sports scholars into complete professional squash players with the attributes then allows them to compete with the very best in the world.
In the next 3 to 5 years, the Squash (Technical) Coach and Trainer will be expected to develop at least one of the JHSF spots scholars into a top 50 level professional squash player in the world, as per the PSA rankings.
This individual will be expected to be a team player, a strong communicator, focused and determined, and have the ability to actualize JHSF’s long-term mission and vision.
The individual must be someone that has a significant amount of squash knowledge and
experience and will therefore be someone that our JHSF scholars will immediately respect.
The individual must also be someone that is always willing to learn, be informed by the latest sports development and fitness techniques and understand the methods for optimizing athletic performance at the highest level of the sport.
The trainer will be the main driver of the development of individualized training programs for each JHSF sports scholar that will ultimately improve their skills, physical fitness, performance and proficiency on and off the court.
The trainer will also be responsible for monitoring the progress of each player and providing feedback and guidance to help them achieve their goals.
ROLE AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Design and implement training programs for athletes and the sports team as a whole.
● Conduct technical coaching assessments to identify areas of strength and weakness
in players and work with fitness coaches to address gaps that can hinder their
progress or development as squash athletes
● Develop and monitor training schedules and goals for each player
● Provide continuous feedback and coaching to players on their techniques and game strategies.
● Attend team meetings, practices, and games as needed.
● Maintain accurate records of player progress and training programs.
● Collaborate with medical staff to develop injury prevention strategies and rehabilitation programs
● Have an international passport and be able to travel with players to international tournaments and intra-national tournaments
● Work with players on developing and improving the phycological and mental strength
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
● A minimum of 7 years of experience working as with professional squash players at an international level
● Certification as a personal trainer or strength and conditioning specialist.
● Knowledge of squash rules, techniques, and strategies.
● Experience designing and implementing training programs for athletes.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Strong organisational and time-management skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Passion for the sport of squash and helping athletes achieve their goals in helping
them succeed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
● Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods.
● Ability to demonstrate squash techniques and participate in drills and training
sessions.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Squash Team Trainer may work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to
accommodate the team's training and competition schedule. The trainer may work indoors in
a squash court or fitness facility and may occasionally travel with the team to competitions.
The trainer may be required to work in noisy, crowded environments and may be exposed to
various weather conditions while travelling.
SALARY: N200,000 -N250,000 (gross monthly salary)
